You do not need to transfer the management of your domain name to Ingenuity Hosting for us to host your website or email. If you wish to manage your own domain all you need to do to transfer your hosting to us is delegate your domain name to point to our servers.
What does it mean to delegate (or sometimes referred to as re-delegating) your domain? This simply tells The Domain Name System (DNS) to look for your website and emails on Ingenuity’s Servers instead of your previous host.
You will need to make this change through your domain registrar (the place where you purchased your domain from). If you do not have the information to login into your registrar you may need to contact them and request the necessary details be sent out or for them to make the change on your behalf.

When your domain name was originally registered you would have provided some contact details (such as company name, address, phone number and email address). These contact details are referred to as the “Administrative Contact” for the domain name.
To transfer your domain name to Ingenuity Hosting the Administrative Contact for your domain name has to approve the transfer. A domain transfer can be approved by:
- Sending us your domain name Registry Key or Auth-Info code
- Sending us a fax (on company letterhead) signed by a manager from your company
If you are unsure of what a Registry Key or Auth-Info code is, we can organise for this to be emailed to you (as long as the email address used when the domain was originally registered is still valid).

A Domain Name is a meaningful and easy-to-remember identifier for addressing computers and information on the Internet. In most cases a Domain name symbolises a company name, trademark or product. When you register a domain name, ownership of that name becomes yours, allowing you to associate email addresses and/or a website with that name whilst the period the registration is in effect. The web and email services need to be provisioned by a Web Hosting Provider (such as Ingenuity Hosting).
