Dear %PERS_NAME%

With the end of the financial year, the Queensland Government celebrating Small Business Week, the Census and all the other day-to-day tasks with running a business, it has been an incredibly busy time of year!

Ingenuity has a new Vision and Mission!

When things are busy it's easy to get distracted or lose focus of the bigger picture as we're too caught-up in the day-to-day operations. So to ensure that Ingenuity remains "on track", we've recently reviewed our Vision and Mission statements:

Our Vision:

Ingenuity’s vision is to be the largest web hosting provider in Australia, renowned for exceptional customer service and innovative technology solutions.

Our Mission:

Ingenuity Hosting Pty Ltd is an innovative, technology driven web hosting company. Providing small-to-medium sized organizations with web hosting, domain name and internet marketing solutions through personalised and enthusiastic support.

But we need your help...

It's easy to say that we'll provide the best support or that we're always going to address the needs of our clients, but without asking what your needs really are, the above statements don't really mean much at all.

With the recent Census, you're probably sick of surveys, so I'll try and keep this as quick and simple as possible.

  1. What is / was your biggest internet, hosting or technology concern? (eg. emails being off-line for days at a time; not being able to reach a support person when you needed it the most; or reaching a support person but finding their help far too technical making things even worse... etc. etc.)
  2. Have you ever experienced the problems from question 1 with Ingenuity or another Internet or Hosting provider before?
  3. What area's would you like to see us improve on?

If you have a spare moment, we would really appreciate it if you could send your answers to: support@ingenuity.net.au - the only way we can improve is if you tell us what you think!

Warning - Mass mail out by Domains Australia Pty Ltd

The Australian Domain Authority (auDA) has just released a consumer warning that Domains Australia Pty Ltd is sending letters and/or faxes to some domain name owners offering to arrange registration of the net.au equivalent of your .com.au domain name for $225. So if you own www.DomainName.com.au, Domains Australia may contact you offering to sell you www.DomainName.net.au.

The letter is headed ‘DOMAIN NAME AVAILABLE’ and some versions of it offer a free MP3 player with each registration.

It has been reported that:

  1. despite the net.au name being paid for, it is NOT being registered and
  2. customers are NOT receiving the ‘free’ MP3 player.

These letter can be very mislead and want you to believe that they are renewing your existing com.au domain name when in fact you are purchasing a new net.au name. Worse still, $225 for a domain name is far too expensive (we only charge $88)!

If you have paid Domains Australia Pty Ltd and the domain name has not been registered or you have not received the ‘free’ MP3 player and you wish to lodge a formal complaint, we advise that you immediately contact the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) either by lodging an electronic complaint at http://www.accc.gov.au/ or by faxing it to their Canberra office on (02) 6243 1199. Alternatively you may wish to contact your State based fair trading or consumer affairs office.

That's it for this edition of the Ingenuity Newsletter

Warm Regards (and thanks in advance for your feedback)

Peter Newsome
Web Services Manager
